When the first edition of Volume 1 was published twenty years ago, it made a deep impression on the World War II readership. It sold out in a year, and hasn’t been reprinted.
However, the first edition of Volume 1 was based on research undertaken by the authors in the late 1990s. Since then Christer Bergström has continued his in-depth research into the subject. As a result, this new edition is essentially a new book. The research in the second edition is of a much higher quality, contains 100% more text, and a large number of previously unpublished new photos (many from photo albums of veteran pilots).
