Description
German Aircraft in Russian and Soviet Service 1914-1940 (Schiffer/A. Alexandrov & G. Petrov). Hard cover, large format, English text, 148 pages and 293 black and white photographs (many of which have apparently never before been published) with extensive captions. The book covers various of the German aircraft types that were captured by the Russians during the two World Wars together with types that were purchased by the Soviets during the inter-war period. The brief text outlines the manner in which German designs influenced and assisted the developing Russian/Soviet aviation industry. The main emphasis of this first volume of the two volume set is the inter-war period and as such most of the photographs are of civil types such as the Ju 13, Ju 20, Ju 21 and Dornier Wal. There is coverage of military types such as the Me 109 and Me 110 and the photographs are of very good quality.
